GRETNA – A man is seeking damages after he was allegedly caused to fall from a ladder.

Kenric Paul filed a suit against William Russell, Ruben Ruiz Trucking LLC and Canal Insurance Co. in the 24th Judicial District Court on July 20.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was standing on a ladder that was on the liftgate of a van that was owned by his employer on Oct. 22, 2015, at a parking lot in Harahan. The suit states that the plaintiff was caused to fall three to four feet from the ladder when a Freightliner owned by Ruben Ruiz Trucking and operated by Russell struck the plaintiff's employer's van. The plaintiff alleges the incident hurt his knee and caused other injuries.

Russell is accused of negligence through failing to operate his vehicle with reasonable care, failing to observe the van and driving in a careless manner.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. He is represented by Darleen M. Jacobs of New Orleans. The case has been assigned to Division K Judge Ellen Shirer Kovach.
