Homeowner claims that she paid for a defective HVAC system

Law money 12

NEW ORLEANS – A homeowner alleges a HVAC installation business installed a defective unit and cost her several thousand dollars in damages.

Karen A. Friley filed a suit against Just Chilling A/C & Heating, Arte D. Williams, Flick Distributing LLC, Jules Heating & Air Conditioning, ABC insurance company, 123 insurance company and XYZ insurance company in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Aug. 4, seeking redhibition.

According to the claim, Friley was the property owner of 832 Navarre Ave. The suit states that the plaintiff became aware of problems with the home's air conditioning system and paid Just Chilling more than $11,000 for the installation of a new system, but this system soon malfunctioned, causing the plaintiff even more personal expenses and hardships. The suit states it was later determined that Just Chilling installed a defective unit that wasn't fit for the purpose of which it was purchased and that it was not certified to install the brand of unit.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. She is represented by M. Suzanne Montero of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Regina Bartholomew Woods.
