MONROE — A Bienville Parish husband and wife are suing a hip implant components manufacturer, alleging failure to manufacture safe components.

Mary Alice McBride and James McBride filed a complaint on Aug. 26, in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana Monroe Division against Stryker Corporation and Stryker Sales Corporation, alleging design defect and negligence.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 22, 2006, Mary Alice McBride had a total right hip replacement surgery, but her recovery has been slow and painful and she can no longer do her usual daily activities. The suit says she is suffering mental and physical pain, has sustained loss of consortium and society and has incurred medical expenses.

The plaintiffs alleges the defendants negligently manufactured and sold the defective hip implant components.

The plaintiffs seek trial by jury, judgment against defendants in solido, reasonable damages, legal interest and all court costs. They are represented by attorneys Robert M. Baldwin and Johnny R. Huckabay II of Hudson, Potts, Bernstein LLP in Monroe.
