Jefferson Parish School Board accused of failing to address bullying

GRETNA – A mother is seeking damages against a school district, claiming that her child was bullied.

Angela Davis Holmes, individually and on behalf of her minor child, filed a suit against Jefferson Parish School Board in the 24th Judicial District Court on Sept. 7.

According to the claim, the plaintiff's child was physically assaulted on Sept. 8, 2015, aboard a school bus by a known bully, while a third student who wasn't even supposed to be on the bus was present to record the attack.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to properly monitor the students, failing to discourage bullying and failing to take necessary measures to prevent bullying.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiff is represented by Anthony J. Livaccari Jr.

The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Donald A. Rowan Jr.

The 24th Judicial District Court Case number 764576.
