GRETNA – A couple alleges their son was injured on a rock climbing wall at a church fair.
Yshanne Handy and Howard Scott Handy, on behalf of themselves and their minor child filed, a suit against The Andes Rock Climbing Wall LLC, Beatriz Ochoa, Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co. and St. Matthew the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, River Ridge Louisiana in the 24th Judicial District Court on Oct. 14.
According to the claim, the plaintiffs were guests at a church fair that was held on Oct. 18, 2015. The suit states that at the fair, there was a rock climbing wall which the plaintiffs allowed their minor child to climb on. Once their child reached the top of the wall, which was 24 feet tall, the harness that was attached to him allegedly detached, causing him to fall to the ground and sustain physical injuries.
The defendants are accused of negligence.
The plaintiffs are seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiffs are represented by David L. Browne of BrowneLaw in New Orleans.
The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Henry G. Sullivan Jr.
