Jefferson Parish accused of providing incorrect information to complete sewer lift project

GRETNA – A company alleges it invested several hundred thousand dollars into a project awarded to it by Jefferson Parish because of incorrect information provided.

Industrial and Mechanical Contractors Inc. filed a suit against Parish of Jefferson in the 24th Judicial District Court on Nov. 18.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was awarded the contract to work on the replacement of a sewer lift station in the parish.  Throughout the course of construction, the plaintiff alleges it had to put in extensive amounts of its own time and money in order to finish the job due to the defendant's failure to provide proper information about the job at the beginning of the bidding process.

The defendant is accused of negligence.

The plaintiff is seeking $730,488.74 in damages. The plaintiff is represented by Daniel R. Martiny of Martiny & Associates in Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Cornelius E. Regan.
