Chief engineer alleges SCF Waxler Marine terminated him for reporting harassment

Wrongful term 10

NEW ORLEANS– A chief engineer alleges he was terminated in retaliation for reporting sexual harassment.

Kenneth W. Majors filed a complaint on Nov. 14 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against SCF Waxler Marine LLC, doing business as SCF Liquids, alleging that the former employer violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that despite his objections and rejections, defendant's acting captain's sexual harassment and solicitation in 2014 caused him to suffer discomfort, humiliation, diminished capacity to enjoy life and psychiatric and psychological treatment expenses. The plaintiff holds SCF Waxler Marine LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide a workplace free from harassment and terminated his employment for complaining of the sexual harassment.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for all damages, plus interest, front pay or reinstatement, costs and attorneys' fees and all other relief. He is represented by Hugh P. Lambert, Cayce C. Peterson, Jacki Smith and Morgan Embleton of The Lambert Firm PLC in New Orleans.
