Insurance company seeks funds from man it alleges shot client

GRETNA – An insurance company is suing a man it alleges shot to death one the the company's clients.

Zurich American Insurance Company, as subrogee of the estate of Anthony F. Tardo Jr., filed a suit against in the 24th Judicial District Court against John Albert Spears, alleging his wrongful actions resulted in the death of a client.

According to the claim, Tardo was fatally shot Dec. 4, 2015, without provocation and Spears is the killer.

Zurich American seeks all reasonable monetary damages, court costs, attorney fees and all reasonable relief. It is represented by attorneys Edward S. Voelker IV and Jennifer Simmons of Melchiode Marks King LLC of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darensburg.

The 24th Judicial District Court Case number 767071.
