Maritime companies allege breach of contract

Contract 10

NEW ORLEANS – Two maritime companies are suing a Baton Rouge insurance business, alleging breach of contract.

International Offshore Services LLC and International Marine LLC filed a suit Dec.8 against Bowen, Miclette and Britt of LA LLC and RK Harrison Insurance Brokers Ltd. in Orleans Parish Civil District Court, alleging wrongful denial of coverage.

According to the claim, the plaintiffs were owed coverage from the defendants regarding damage of a sonar fish in the Gulf Mexico. The suit states the defendants breached this duty through failing to act reasonably to ensure that notice for coverage was posted to the necessary parties. The lawsuit states the plaintiffs were denied coverage due to the fault of the defendants.

The defendants are accused of breach of contract and negligently failing to take the appropriate actions to ensure the plaintiff was given the information and clearance needed in a timely manner.

International Offshore Services and International Marine seek trial by jury, all reasonable damages, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiffs are represented by attorneys from Barrasso Usdin Kupperman Freeman & Sarver LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Tiffany G. Chase.
