Jefferson Parish woman claims she tripped, fell on a display table at J.C. Penney

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing J.C. Penney Corp. Inc. following a fall at its store.

Kathleen Jones filed a suit against J.C. Penney Corp. Inc., doing business as J.C. Penney, and AIG Property Casualty Co., also known as AIG, in the 24th Judicial District Court. 

According to the claim, the plaintiff was a guest in the J.C. Penney at 3301 Veterans Memorial Blvd. when the alleged incident occurred on Dec. 12, 2015. The suit states that the plaintiff was caused to trip and fall on a display table that was on the floor, causing pain, suffering, mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life and medical expenses.

The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible because it allegedly was negligent in leaving the table in a dangerous spot, failed to warn the plaintiff of the danger and was overall negligent in regards to the management of the store.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. She is represented by Ryan T. Hughes and Robert T. Hughes of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division G Judge E. Adrian Adams.

The 24th Judicial District Court Case number 767303.
