Group claims that property it was leasing was damaged in fire

NEW ORLEANS – A group is seeking damages after the property that they were leasing was damaged.

Wireless General #2 LLC, U.B.U. LLC, Golden Perfume Inc., Ahmad, Ayyad, Mohammad Ayyad, Mohammad Khalil, Young W. Lee, Soon H. Yoo, Anamul Sarker, Mohammad Sarker and Mohammad Khan filed a lawsuit against Quarter Holdings LLC, ABC Insurance Company, 1012 Canal St. LLC and XYZ Insurance Company in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, a fire took place on Jan. 27, 2016, at 1018 Canal St., New Orleans, which is owned and maintained by the defendant. The suit states that the fire spread to the property that the plaintiffs were leasing from the defendant and suffered losses of inventory as well as mental pain and suffering.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to provide a reasonable safe premises, failing to provide warning of the danger or maintain proper firewalls and leasing a property was was susceptible to such damages.

The group seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. They are represented by attorney James E. Courtenay of The King Law Firm LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division G Judge Robin M. Giarrusso.
