NEW ORLEANS – Three women are seeking damages after an elevator caused them to suffer injuries.
Chelsea Sharper, Darnelle Thomas and Tonya Harris-Jones filed a lawsuit Jan. 27 against The Phoenix Insurance Co., Stirling properties LLC, Nancy Rome, Stirling 601 Polydra LLC and Thyssenkrupp Elevator Corp. in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs entered an elevator at the Pan American Life Center at 601 Polydras St., New Orleans on Nov. 8 when the incident occurred. The suit states that the elevator malfunctioned, resulting in serious injuries to the plaintiffs. They were injured in multiple areas, including the neck and back, and experience overall pain.
The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to maintain the elevator safely, failing to warn of the danger and overall negligence.
The three individuals seek all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. They are represented by attorney R. Brent Cueria and George W. Byrne of the Cueria Law Firm LLC in New Orleans and attorney Allison B. Scully.
The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Paula A. Brown.
