Woman seeks damages following Orleans Parish car crash

NEW ORLEANS – A woman is seeking damages as a result of a car crash in Orleans Parish.

Zandra Batiste filed a lawsuit Feb. 1 against Dwanna Every and State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co. in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging reckless driving.

According to the complaint, Batiste was driving her 2000 Acura TL approaching the intersection of South Carrolton Avenue and Olive Street. The suit states that Every was driving a 2004 Ford Expedition near the same intersection and struck Batiste's car while making a turn to the right lane of South Carrolton Avenue. The plaintiff suffered serious bodily injuries due to the defendant's actions.

The defendant is accused of negligence and reckless operation of a motor vehicle, failing to yield and improper lane change.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Bernard L. Charbonnet Jr. and David M. Fink of the Law Office of Bernard L. Charbonnet Jr. in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Kern A. Reese.
