Customer blames store after slipping on oil

GRETNA – A customer is suing a Metairie store, alleging its negligence caused her injuries in a fall. 

Reyna Antoine of Orleans Parish filed a lawsuit Feb. 3 against SLFM Inc., doing business as Laborie's Budget Save No. 3, and/or Budget Saver Store, in the 24th Judicial District Court, alleging negligence.

According to the claim, Antoine was a guest at the defendant's property, 1951 Barrataria Blvd, Metairie, on Feb. 26, 2016. The suit states Antoine slipped and fell on oil that had been left on the ground. The fall resulted in headaches, concussions and vision problems for the plaintiff, the lawsuit states.

Antoine is accused of negligently failing to properly ensure the safety of the venue, failing to properly clean up or warn of the danger, failing to properly train employees and other acts of negligence.

Antoine seeks all reasonable damages, attorney fees and court costs. She is represented by attorneys Patrick G. Kehoe Jr. and Anthony J. Engolla III of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Cornelius E. Regan.
