Visitor blames apartment complex for fall

GRETNA – A St. Charles Parish woman is suing a River Ridge apartment complex, alleging a dangerous condition caused her to be injured.

Joan Ann Robeau Schexnayder filed a suit Feb. 27 against Scottsdale Insurance Company and Paradise Manor Community Club Inc., in 24th Judicial District Court, alleging negligence.

According to the claim, on April 2, 2016, the plaintiff was at the defendant's property, 529 Sauve Road, River Ridge. The suit states Schexnayder tripped and fell on uneven concrete near the swimming pool, leading to injuries.  

The defendant is accused of negligently failing to ensure the property was safe, failing to repair the damaged property and overall negligence in the maintenance of the property.

Schexnayder seeks damages, attorney fees and court costs. She is represented by attorney James B. Guest of Kenner.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Stephen C. Grefer.
