Former detective agency owner claims defamation

NEW ORLEANS – The former owner of a detective agency claims that he was defamed in a previous litigation.

Dwayne Alexander filed a lawsuit March 10 against Blue Williams LLP; Thomas G. Buck, attorney and individually; Burglass & Tankersley LLC; Dennis J. Phayer, attorney in his representative capacity for James P. Englade and individually; Elizabeth Doubleday, attorney in her representative capacity for James P. Englade and individually; Deutsch Kerrigan LLP; and Nancy J. Marshall, attorney in her representative capacity for David Parnell Jr., David Parnell, individually. and James P. Englade, in his individual capacity, in Orleans Parish Civil District Court, alleging defamation.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is an entrepreneur. The suit states that in February 2009, defendant Englade circulated false information about the plaintiff, through a cease and desist order, causing him to be defamed.

The defendant is accused of defamation against the plaintiff.

The plaintiff seeks a trial by jury and all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by himself.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge Sidney Cates IV.
