Woman claims Harrah's Casino elevator dropped a floor, causing injuries

NEW ORLEANS – A woman claims that she was injured when an elevator dropped a floor.

Lori Hunt filed a lawsuit March 14 against Schindler Elevator Corp. and ABC Insurance Company, Jazz Casino Co. LLC, doing business as Harrah's Casino, or in the alternative, Harrah's New Orleans Management Co. and XYZ Insurance Company in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff, a resident of the state of Tennessee, was a guest at the defendant's property at 228 Polydras St., New Orleans. The suit states that the plaintiff entered the elevator on the premises on March 21, 2016. The plaintiff was injured when the elevator fell a floor. The plaintiff was caused to suffer emotional and physical damages due to the incident.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to warn of the danger, failing to maintain the elevator, failing to prevent such incidents from occurring and overall negligence in relation to the incident.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. She is represented by attorney Michael J. Begoun of Wolfe, Begoun & Pick LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge Sidney H. Cates IV.
