NEW ORLEANS – An Orleans Parish woman claims that she was accused of shoplifting in a Save-A-Lot.
Serilla Jackson filed a lawsuit April 3 against Moran Foods LLC, doing business as Save-A-Lot Store, in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff was at the defendant's property at 9999 Lake Forest Blvd., New Orleans on Dec. 13, 2106, when the incident occurred. The plaintiff was caused to fall when she was chased by an employee of the defendant, who thought that the plaintiff was shoplifting.
The defendant is accused of negligence through using excessive force, failing to see that the plaintiff was not stealing and overall negligence.
The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. She is represented by attorney Jack P. Ruli Jr. of Gennusa, Piacun & Ruli in Metairie.
The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Christopher J. Bruno.
