Wrongful term 06

GRETNA – A woman is seeking damages for wrongful termination.

Denise Jensen filed a suit April 13 against Chateau De Notre Dame, doing business as Wynhoven Health Care Center, in the 24th Judicial District Court alleging that she was terminated while grieving for her father who had died.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was employed by the defendant and worked as a nurse at the property of Wynhoven Health Care Center in Marrero. The suit states that the plaintiff's father was a patient at the facility on March 8, 2016, and died due to a breach in the standard of care. The plaintiff was told that she could take off the time she needed to grieve but while gone, the plaintiff was terminated without any warning or notice.

The defendant is accused of wrongful termination, through failing to give the plaintiff warning of the termination.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. She is represented by Corey E. Dunbar of Pivach, Pivach, Hufft, Thriffiley & Dunbar LLC in Belle Chasse.

The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Nancy A. Miller.

The 24th Judicial District Court Case number 771004.
