Orleans Parish mail carrier seeking damages for being attacked by dogs

NEW ORLEANS – A woman is seeking damages, claiming that she was attacked by dogs while delivering mail.

Rachel Linker filed a lawsuit April 12 against Guy Stephen Gonzalez in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff, a resident of Orleans Parish, is an employee of the United States Postal Service. The suit states that while in the course of her work on May 19, 2016, the plaintiff was attacked while at 1840 Marengo St. in New Orleans by two dogs at the address.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to properly restrain the dogs, failing to warn of the danger that the dogs presented and overall negligence as dog owners.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney W. Chad Stelly of Rome, Arata, Baxley & Stelly LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division G Judge Robin M. Giarrusso.
