Man claims New Orleans Walgreens gave him the wrong medication

Medical malpractice 02

NEW ORLEANS – A man is seeking damages, claiming that he was given an incorrect prescription.

Luke Freeman filed a lawsuit April 11 against Walgreen Louisiana Co. Inc. and Tony R. Morgan Sr. in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging medical malpractice.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was filling his three prescriptions on April 13, 2016, at the Walgreens at 110 Elysian Fields Ave., New Orleans. The suit states that the pharmacy correctly filled two of the three prescriptions but the final one was wrong. The drug that the man was given caused him to suffer hallucinations and racing thoughts, and he fell and injured himself. He was later admitted to Tulane Medical Center for the fall and the drug usage.

The defendant is accused of medical malpractice, through failing to fill the prescriptions properly, failing to take the necessary care and overall negligence.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Erin Bruce Saucier of Didriksen, Saucier, Woods and Pichon APLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge Clare Jupiter.
