NEW ORLEANS – A woman is seeking damages after she was caused to fall in her place of work.
State of Louisiana, Office of the Governor, Division of Administration, Office of Risk Management filed a lawsuit April 18 against building owner Zelia LLC, Corporate Realty Inc., ABC Insurance Co. and XYZ Insurance Co. in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, Marion Johnson, while working for the Department of Children and Family Services, went to the bathroom on the 18th floor of the building at 1450 Poydras St., on April 28, 2016. The suit states that the plaintiff was caused to slip and fall when she encountered a liquid on the floor that had not been warned of.
The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to place the appropriate signage to make passers-by aware of the danger, failing to properly train employees in how to clean the building and overall negligence.
The plaintiff, as administrator of workers compensation benefits for Johnson, seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Angela G. Beler of the Louisiana Department of Justice in New Orleans.
The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Paula A. Brown.
