Faulty water heater supply line to blame for flood damage at Arthur Roger Gallery, suit claims

NEW ORLEANS – An art gallery is seeking damages for water damage and product liability.

State Farm Fire and Casualty Co., as partial subrogee of 432 Julia and Arthur Roger Gallery LLC filed a lawsuit April 20 against Watts Water Technologies Inc. in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging product liability.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking reparation for damages that occurred on April 23, 2016, after a faulty water heater supply line allegedly caused a flood at the plaintiff's property at 432 Julia St., Units 101 and 102, New Orleans. The suit states that the defendant is responsible for damages sustained because it manufactured the water heater supply line that failed to work properly.

The defendant is accused of failing to install a properly functioning component, failing to inspect the component to ensure that it was working properly and overall negligence through the distribution of faulty materials.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney James E. Brouillette in Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge Christopher J. Bruno.
