NEW ORLEANS – A Jefferson Parish couple claims that their minor child was hurt when a table collapsed on her.

Bethany Echelard, wife of Kyle Echelard, individually and on behalf of their minor daughter, filed a lawsuit April 24 against the Roman Catholic Church of the Archdiocese of New Orleans, doing business as St. Louis King of Frace Catholic School, Archdiocese of New Orleans, and Catholic Mutual Group in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs claim that their minor daughter was injured on June 16, 2016, at a camp being run by the defendant. The suit states that a table collapsed on the child's hand, causing permanent injuries to her.

The plaintiffs seek all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The couple is represented by attorney Brian D. Katz of Herman, Herman & Katz LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Kern A. Reese.
