Orleans Parish woman claims she was injured after light fixture fell on her

NEW ORLEANS – A woman was allegedly struck by a falling light fixture.

Ericka Lassair of Orleans Parish filed a lawsuit May 12 against The Ernest N. Morial, New Orleans Convention Center & New Orleans Wine & Food Experience in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages, claiming that on May 28, 2016, she was injured when a light fixture fell and struck her on the back of the head. The woman claims she suffered from neck and back injuries and severe burns due to the incident.

The defendant is accused of negligence by failing to properly manage the center, failing to ensure that the fixture was hung properly and overall negligence.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Shaun Mena in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Kern A. Reese.
