New Orleans woman claims she was injured when elevator malfunctioned

NEW ORLEANS – A New Orleans woman claims that an improperly working elevator caused her injury.

Michelle Brown filed a lawsuit May 16 against HGI Corporate Services LLC, 1010 Common LLC, Schindler Elevator Co. and ABC Insurance Co. in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place on May 17, 2016. The suit states that the plaintiff was at the address of 1010 Commons St. in the defendant's property when the elevator that she was in malfunctioned, causing her foot to be trapped and causing her to fall.

The defendant is accused of negligence by failing to ensure that the elevator was in proper working order and failing to warn the plaintiff of the potential for danger.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. She is represented by attorney Hope L. Harper of H.L. Harper & Associates LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Kern A. Reese.
