Jefferson Parish woman claims she was struck by shopping carts at Walmart

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman claims that she was struck by a line of shopping carts at Walmart.

Alice Lewis filed a suit May 18 against Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Wal-Mart Louisiana LLC in the 24th Judicial District Court alleging negligence.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was at the Walmart at 8912 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie on Nov. 24 when the incident occurred. The suit states that the plaintiff was struck by a line of carts being pushed by the defendant's employee.

The defendant is accused of negligence by failing to properly train employees, failing to keep an eye out for customers and overall negligence.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. is represented by George B. Recile and Barry W. Sartin Jr., of Chehardy, Sherman, Williams, Murray, Recile, Stakelum & Hayes LLP in Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Michael P. Mentz.
