GRETNA – An East Baton Rouge Parish woman claims that a faulty ceiling fan fell on her as she slept.

Amanda Darensbourg filed a suit May 30 against Albert Morris, Al Morris Enterprises LLC, Al Morris Investments LLC, Crescent Signs Inc. and The XYZ Insurance Co. in the 24th Judicial District Court alleging negligence.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was a tenant at 3816 Airline Drive, Metairie. The suit states that the defendant was leasing a one-bedroom apartment to the plaintiff and that on Dec. 5, 2016, the plaintiff informed the defendant that the ceiling fan in the property was making more noise than usual. The defendant assured the plaintiff that there was no problem with it, but on Jan. 30, the plaintiff was injured when the ceiling fan fell on her as she slept.

The defendant is accused of negligence by failing to take the concern seriously, failing to remedy the situation and overall negligence in the management of the property.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Betty F. Mullin of the Law Offices of Michael L. Mullin in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Cornelius E. Regan.
