Walgreens accused of giving child incorrect medicine

GRETNA — Parents are suing Walgreens Pharmacy at West Jefferson Medical Center, Walgreen Louisiana Company Inc. and John Doe for allegedly giving their child an incorrect prescription.

Jessica Briggs and Jeremy Goudeau filed a lawsuit March 8 in the 24th Judicial District Court, alleging breach of care and negligence.

According to the claim, the plaintiffs bought a prescription from the defendants for their minor child on March 14, 2016. The suit claims that the prescription was incorrectly filled, causing the child to suffer life-threatening reactions.

The defendant is accused of gross negligence by failing to warn the plaintiffs of the potential for danger, properly fill the prescription and for overall negligence.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Robert J. Daigre of Bugos & Associates LLC in New Orleans.
