Customer blames Sears for injuries

GRETNA – A customer is suing Sears, alleging a piece of weightlifting equipment fell on her at a Sears store in Metairie.

Cecilia Mullins filed a suit July 19 against Sears, Roebuck and Company, doing business as Sears Stores and XYZ Insurance Company, in the 24th Judicial District Court, alleging negligence.

According to the claim, on July 21, 2016 at the Sears at 4400 Veterans Memorial Blvd.. Metairie, Mullins was was in the exercise equipment area when a piece of weightlifting equipment fell on her right arm, resulting in injuries to the plaintiff.

Sears is accused of negligence through failing to ensure that the premises were safe and overall negligence of management.

Mullins seeks damages, attorney fees and court costs. She is represented by attorney Meagan Smith of the Law Office of Miguel A. Elias in Kenner.

The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Stephen D. Enright.

The 24th Judicial District Court case number 774138.
