NEW ORLEANS – A husband and wife are seeking damages after part of a ceiling fell on the wife.

Deborah Singer and Richard Hicks filed a lawsuit against Quarter Holdings LLC in Orleans Parish Civil District Court, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place at their New Orleans apartment. The suit states that the plaintiffs had notified the defendant that their ceiling was cracked and leaking water when it rained, but the defendants allegedly failed to take any action. The suit states that on Aug. 5, the ceiling was leaking and when Singer was placing buckets on the ground to collect the water, a portion of the roof fell on her, injuring her back, shoulder and face.

The defendant is accused of negligence by failing to pay proper attention to the concerns voiced by the plaintiffs, failing to provide a safe residence for the plaintiffs and overall negligence of management.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by Donald F. de Boisblanc in New Orleans.
