Orleans Parish man claims his employment was wrongfully ended after an injury

Wrongful term 08

GRETNA – An Orleans Parish man is seeking damages for wrongful termination after he was injured.

Edwerd Williams filed a suit against WJMB Transport #1 LLC, doing business as Two Men and a Truck, in the 24th Judicial District Court, alleging wrongful termination.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was employed by the defendant on Sept. 23, 2016, when the incident occurred. The suit states that the plaintiff was injured when a coworker dropped a portion of a heavy load that was being moved, injuring Williams. He reported his injury to his employer and then got medical attention. He claims he was cautioned by doctors to wait until Oct. 10, 2016, to return to work. The plaintiff claims he was suddenly terminated on Oct. 5, 2016, before he was returned to work because the employer feared that he would file for workers' compensation.

The plaintiff claims he suffered mental anguish and lost income.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Justin M. Chopin of The Chopin Law Firm LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division P Judge Lee V. Faulkner Jr.
