Northwestern State trying to collect on past due tuition

GRETNA — Northwestern State University is seeking more than $8,800 from a former student.

The University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors through Northwestern State University filed a suit November 8 against Tyrian Vanburn of Jefferson Parish in the 24th Judicial District Court, alleging an open account.

According to the claim, the plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to pay off the balance of $8,868.36 plus interest, dating back to the fall 2014 semester.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Anthony D. Winters of Louisiana Department of Justice in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division D Judge Scott U. Schlegel.
