Atlas Cleaning & Laundry accused of negligence in fall

NEW ORLEANS – A woman is seeking damages after allegedly falling on her head at a laundromat.

Gwendolyn Hamilton filed a lawsuit on Nov. 17 against Atlas Cleaning & Laundry Service LLC, Marsha S. Cropper, and The Travelers Indemnity Company in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place on Nov. 21, 2016 at 5540 Crowder Blvd. The suit states that the plaintiff was pushing a clothing cart up a ramp when she was  caused to fall when the cart flipped due to a gap between the ramp and the building. 

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to ensure that the cart was safe to use and failing to warn the plaintiff of danger.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Benny Council of The Council Law Firm LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division D Judge Nakisha Ervin Knott.
