Jefferson Parish sued after man falls in parking lot

GRETNA — A man claims that he fell in the parking lot of the Martin Luther King Jr. recreation center in New Orleans.

Elmo Muse filed a suit on Nov. 8 against Jefferson Parish as the political entity responsible for the Martin Luther King Jr. rec center at 2400 Lester Ave. alleging negligence.

According to the claim, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place on Nov. 8, 2016. The suit states that the plaintiff was caused to trip and fall on his way to his car due to a parking stop that was not clearly marked.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to warn of danger and failing to clearly mark the obstruction.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is representing himself.

The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Cornelius E. Regan.
