Church accused of negligence when woman falls from curb

GRETNA — A Jefferson Parish woman is seeking damages for injuries she allegedly suffered when she fell outside of church.

Elaine Gulizo filed a suit on Nov. 20 against The Visitation of Our Lady Roman Catholic Church in the 24th Judicial District Court alleging negligence.

According to the claim, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place on March 3 when she allegedly was caused to fall off a curb that  was painted the same color as the sidewalk, causing injuries on her hand and wrist.

The church is accused of negligence through failing to properly mark the change in elevation.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Gilbert V. Andry IV of Gibby, Andry, The Andry Law Firm in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Cornelius E. Regan.
