Woman sues Ochsner Medical Center over her premature birth

GRETNA –A woman is seeking damages claiming that her premature delivery was due to a medical team not taking her concerns seriously.

Gabrielle Green, individually and on behalf of her minor child, filed a suit on Jan. 19 against Ochsner Medical Center-Westbank LLC, Ochsner Clinic Foundation, et al. in the 24th Judicial District Court alleging breach of the standard of care, medical mismanagement and negligence.

According to the claim, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that began on Feb. 23, 2016. The suit states that the plaintiff was 27 weeks pregnant and was experiencing contractions, but she was still discharged by the medical team at Ochsner. The plaintiff was again admitted for contractions and leukocytes in her urine on Feb. 25, 2016, but again was discharged. On Feb. 27, 2016, the plaintiff, who was suffering from vaginal bleeding, gave birth to her child. The premature nature of the birth required special action and care to be taken for the child.

The defendant is accused of breach of the standard of care, medical mismanagement and negligence.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Vincent E. Odom of Capitelli & Wicker in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge John J. Molaison Jr.
