Man claims he was incorrectly diagnosed and treated by doctor

GRETNA – A man is seeking damages for being improperly diagnosed and treated at the hospital.

Joseph P. Richoux filed a suit Jan. 30 against David A. Beary, M.D. and West Jefferson Medical Center in the 24th Judicial District Court alleging negligence.

According to the claim, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place Nov. 8, 2013 when the plaintiff visited the defendant's medical center for care. He was discharged Dec. 14, 2013 after surgery. The suit states the defendant was negligent and failed to diagnose the plaintiff's issue properly.

The defendant is accused of negligence and breach in the standard of care.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Douglas Uzee Jr. of Uzee & Richard of Marrero.

The case has been assigned to Division K Judge Ellen Shirer Kovach.

The 24th Judicial District Court Case No. is 780119.
