GRETNA — A woman claims that another driver rear-ended her while he was on his phone.
Melanie Chagnard filed a suit on Feb. 16 against Cox Communications Inc. and Benny Taylor Jr. in the 24th Judicial District Court alleging negligence.
According to the claim, the plaintiff was driving her car on Veterans Memorial Boulevard on Feb. 18, 2017 when the defendant, who was on his phone and acting in the scope of his employment with Cox, failed to stop in a timely manner and rear-ended the plaintiff's car.
The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by David Vicknair of Scott, Vicknair, Hair & Checki LLC in New Orleans.
The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Cornelius E. Regan.
