Lawsuit seeks compensation from insurance company

NEW ORLEANS – A lawsuit claims an insurance company has failed to compensate customers for damages suffered.

Genetrice Hankton and Cornell Hankton filed a lawsuit March 1 against Lighthouse Property Insurance Corp. in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence and breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident in March 2016 that took place when the plaintiffs' property began to flood. The defendant has failed to pay the plaintiffs back for their damages suffered.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract and negligence.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Joseph LaHatte III in Metairie of LaHatte Law Firm LLC

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge Clare Jupiter.

The Orleans Parish Civil District Court Case No. is 2018-2043.
