A family is seeking damages after a man allegedly fell at work

NEW ORLEANS — A family is seeking damages after one of its members allegedly was injured at work.

James Holmes and Darilyn Kinsey, individually and on behalf of their minor children, James Holmes Jr., Destiny Holmes and Jaliyah Kinsey, filed a lawsuit March 26 in Orleans Parish Civil District Court against Riverine Fisheries International LLC, alleging negligence

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for a incident that allegedly took place on March 28, 2017 when a ship's gangway allegedly failed, causing James Holmes to fall into the steel hull of the ship. The incident allegedly resulted in extensive injuries.

The plaintiffs seek all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Loren D. Shanklin of Smith Shanklin Sosa LLC in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division D Judge Nakisha Ervin-Knott

Orleans Parish Civil District Court case number 2018-2964.
