American Express is seeking nearly $30,000 from a Louisiana resident

NEW ORLEANS — American Express claims that an individual owes it more than $29,000.

American Express National Bank filed a lawsuit on May 16 against Kent Barnett in Orleans Parish Civil District Court, alleging an open account.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an open account in the balance of $29,417.89, plus interest, claiming that the defendant has failed to pay off the balance due.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney's fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Edward F. Bukaty III in Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Rachael Johnson.
