Dollar Tree targeted in handicap ramp injury lawsuit

GRETNA — Two individuals are seeking damages after an alleged incident at a Dollar Tree store.

Cindy Rodriguez and Darren Rodriguez filed a suit May 16 against Dollar Tree Stores Inc.; Allen Y. Huang; Paul S. Huang, trustee of the Huang Family Trust; Shirley P. Huang, trustee of the Huang Family trust; and the Huang Family Trust UTA Dated June 23, 2006 in the 24th Judicial District Court, alleging negligence.

According to the claim, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that allegedly took place on May 16, 2017 when Cindy Rodriguez was at a Dollar Tree store. The suit claims that the plaintiff was injured when her electric scooter allegedly tipped as she traveled down the handicapped ramp.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney's fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Pierre F. Gaudin in Gretna.

The case has been assigned to Division D Judge Scott U. Schlegel.
