Digiovanni Construction Co. LLC and its managing member accused of trying to trade in stolen car

GRETNA — A company and its managing member claim that they were accused of stealing their own car after it allegedly had been seized.

Digiovanni Construction Co. LLC and August Digiovanni filed a suit on May 24 against Ally Financial Inc. and ARB of Louisiana Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court, alleging unfair seizure.

According to the claim, the plaintiffs are seeking damages, claiming that the defendants seized their vehicle. When the plaintiffs got their car back, they allegedly tried to trade it in. However, they claim that they were then told by local authorities that they were trying to trade in a stolen car.

The plaintiffs are seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney's fees and court costs. The plaintiffs are represented by Robert T. Garrity Jr. in Harahan.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Stephen C. Grefer.

The 24th Judicial District Court case number 784132.
