NEW ORLEANS – A Jefferson Parish is seeking to arbitrate his personal injury claims against the owner of a storage unit.
Jose Contreras filed a lawsuit May 30 against Public Storage Co. in Orleans Parish Civil District Court seeking enforcement of arbitration.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges on Sept. 30, 2016, he was injured when he was squeezed between the industrial elevator doors while trying to use his storage space at the defendant's premises. He alleges he filed a demand for arbitration in September 2017 and that the defendant has refused to arbitrate the dispute.
The plaintiff seeks judgment in his favor and an order compelling the defendant to arbitrate the dispute. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Pedro F. Galeas of The Galeas Law Corp. in New Orleans.
The case has been assigned to Division E Judge Clare Jupiter.
