Area Objective alleges shutters made by Period Millworks warped

NEW ORLEANS – An Orleans Parish company alleges shutters it ordered for three houses did not perform as expected.

Area Objective LLC filed a lawsuit May 31 against Period Millworks LLC, doing business as The Woodwright Shop, and Colony Specialty Insurance Co., in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is constructing three new homes on Burgundy Street in New Orleans and contracted Period Millworks LLC to fabricate Spanish cedar shutters. 

The suit states after installation, the plaintiff found issues with bowing and warping in the shutters. It alleges it had to remove the shutters.

Period Millworks is alleged to have failed to provide the shutters it was contracted to provide.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Ethan N. Penn of Musgrave McLachlan & Penn in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Rachael Johnson.
