GRETNA – A Becnel Law Firm LLC client claims the firm was negligent in representing him.
Ryan Prejeant filed a lawsuit July 13 against Becnel Law Firm and Darryl Becnel in the 24th Judicial District Court, alleging negligence and breach in the standard of care.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident Becnel was allegedly negligent in handling the plaintiff's case, resulting in a loss of potential worker's compensation benefits. Specifically, Prejeant claims required filings were not made before the statute of limitations ran out on his on-the-job accident case. The plaintiff said he believes documents that were later placed in his file were falsified.
The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney's fees and court costs. He is represented by E.J. Cloos III in Covington.
The case has been assigned to Division O Judge Danyelle Taylor.
