Man claims his yard was damaged by New Orleans utility

NEW ORLEANS – A man is seeking damages after a New Orleans utility reportedly left a hole in his front yard.

Stanley Blackman Sr. filed a lawsuit July 10 against Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place in August 2017 when the defendant completed some work in the front of the plaintiff's home, having to dig up some of his lawn. Following the work, the suit claims, the defendant failed to repair the lawn properly, resulting in damages to the value of his property, as well as large hole being left in the plaintiff's lawn.

The defendant is accused of negligence.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by himself.

The case has been assigned to Division G Judge Robin Giarrusso.

The Orleans Parish Civil District Court Case No. is 2018-6706.
