USAA, City of New Orleans named in flood victim's lawsuit

NEW ORLEANS – A man claims that his insurance company denies responsibility after a flood.

Matthew Spector filed a lawsuit Aug. 3 against USAA Casualty Insurance Co., USAA General Indemnity Co., the City of New Orleans, Wallace C. Drennan Inc., and the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place during a flood. The suit states that the plaintiff, who resided at 7740 Belfast St., suffered home damages during a flood that should have been covered by the defendant. The defendant, however, denied any such responsibility and has failed to reimburse the plaintiff for damages suffered.

The defendant is accused of negligence.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Craig Robinson of Robinson Law Firm in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge Melvin Zeno.

The Orleans Parish Civil District Court Case No. is 18-7735.
