Apartment floor collapse prompts litigation

GRETNA –– A Gretna apartment complex faces a lawsuit after a man alleges a floor collapsed and injured him.

Khaled Hammad filed a complaint on Aug. 28 in the 24th Judicial District Court against Acadian Village Apartments LLC, River Oaks Management Inc. and Hiscox Insurance Company Inc., alleging negligence. 

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was at the defendants' property at 600 Deerfield Road when the floor collapsed from under him.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Bradley Egenberg in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Donald A. Rowan Jr.
